Construction Planner

The Construction Planner is an integral part of the LATAM Project organization that will work conjointly with logistics (Production units, Supply chain and Transport areas), forecast and construction teams for the coordination, evaluation, planning, tracking, controlling, and reporting of project schedules for all capital projects performed in the Region.
The position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited reaction time exists. It is expected the candidate to be target/detailed oriented, with excellent communication skills and flexible to changes and used to work under pressure.
The main functions of the Construction Planner are to build, optimize and update the execution of the projects in all phases in line with the contractual and the financial objectives. The Planner is accountable of the result of the planning and should engage all actions to make it happen. Moreover, the Planner is accountable of the accuracy of the information in order to analyze the project portfolio of the Region.
Essential activities and Responsibilities:
- Build, optimize and update the projects plans during Project execution (from engineering process to Project take over).
- Support the Project Managers and Lead Planners in all scheduling related issues both internally and externally with the Customers.
- Periodical update, follow up, analysis and submittal of the projects assigned and their respective Project Portfolio of the Region.
- Obtain data on Projects progress, logistic and manpower (resources loaded) from Project Managers, Contractors or other project personnel.
- Integrate, optimize, update and deal with Contractors project plans (mainly with EPC Contract) in order to accomplish with Contractual/Baselines schedules.
- Critical path analysis, giving support to Project Managers in taking actions to improve and optimize Construction project plans.
- Assist the Contract manager in all claims submittals.
- Write and present formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence to internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
Master/Bachelor degree on Civil, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering and Construction related degrees.
Minimum 4-5 years demonstrated industry/construction applicable experience in Project planning and control discipline, knowledge of Construction and Supply process improvement and strong analytical skills.
Experience on Construction EPC projects
Control systems, tools, practices as well as hands-on scheduling experience using software Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project.
IT literate: Office software, MS Project & Primavera P6 with experience in resources loading.
Languages: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
Project Management skills , certification or experience desirable.
Renewable Energy Experience or Knowledge would be a plus.
Additional Information
Primary work location will be in field work with a few visits to the corporate office in Mexico City
